Technique Tuesday's Robbie Raccoon

Hello crafty friends!  Are you familiar with the Animal House Program from Technique Tuesday?

You don't have to join the program if you want to get the new set for the month.  They are available to buy separately as well!  This month's set is called Robbie Raccoon.  In my card today, Robbie and his friends have gotten themselves into a bit of trouble, lol.

Robbie Raccoon

I love all of the sayings on this set!  They go perfectly with Robbie and the cute little garbage can that's included. (Never thought that I'd say a garbage can is cute, lol. But this one is!  And it was a lot of fun to color too!).

My card today measures at 8.5" x 3.5" and fits eaily into a #10 business envelope or perfectly into a #8 sized envelope.  I usually put mine into a #10 since they are so easily accessible here in the US.  I could make my card larger but sometimes it looks better to keep the card more compact depending on the size of the images that I use.

To start, I stamped 7 garbage cans and one raccoon (on the far right) on the background of my card by using a masking technique.  Masking is where you cover one portion of your card and then partially stamp on top of it to look like the stamped image is behind the one that you had masked.

I used Copic Sketch Markers to color all of my images from the Robbie Raccoon Stamp Set and the background.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the front left raccoon and scissors to fussy cut the one inside the garbage can.

Colors Used:
Raccoons: W00, W0, W1, W2, W4, W5, W7, W9
Trash Cans: C00, C1, C2, C4, C5
Sky: BG000, BG01
Ground: W00, W0, W1, W2, W4

To get the raccoon in the garbage can, I simply stamped and colored my raccoon and then fussy cut his head and back paws.  I then did the same with a garbage can and lid.  I was unable to fussy cut the small white areas inside the top and side handles (without wrinkling my image), so I drew into these spaces what I thought you would see when looking through them where they were placed on the card.  It's a trick of the eye but it seems to work well enough!
