Koala Friends - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello everyone!  I'm excited to share with you a fun box card that I made last month for the Pretty Pink Posh June Release.

My card features the newly released Koala Friends Stamp Set.  I fell in love with this set when I first saw it.  I especially love the adorable little baby koala on it's Momma's back.  So precious!

To start, I first stamped my images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock.  I then colored them with Copic Sketch Markers and used their coordinating dies to cut them out.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Koalas: W00, W0, W1, W3, W5, W7 (Blush R20)
  • Greenery: YG0000, YG01, YG05, G19
  • Tree Bark: E31, E35, E44, E47, E49

For the greenery, I used the leave images from both the Bold Blooms and Build A Bloom Stamp Sets.  I wanted to make it look like they were all hanging out in the trees, eating eucalyptus leaves, lol.  I also added another branch from the Birdie Friends Stamp Set.

Lastly, I stamped the front panel of my card with the sentiment before adhering the panel to the front flap of my card.  There are really so many ways that you can use this set but I was going for a 3-dimensional look that would be fun pop-up surprise for my recipient to open.

Showering You With Love - MFT Color Challenge 98

Hello friends!  It's time for another Color Challenge from My Favorite Things!  The colors for this current Color Challenge are Lavender Fields, Wild Wisteria, Peach Bellini and Coral Crush.

For my card today, I created a little rainy scene featuring the cute little girl (and her ducks) from the Pure Innocence "Showering You with Love" stamp set.  To begin, I first created my background by die cutting a stitched scalloped rectangle from White Card Stock using the Blueprints 27 Die-namics.

I then masked off a section for the ground area of my background and then blended some Shaded Lilac and Wilted Violet Distress Inks for my sky.  Once that was completely dry, I then added some raindrops using the Mini Raindrops Stencil and Pearl Texture Luxe Metallic Paste.  I love this paste.  It glides on so smoothly and has a beautiful sheen to it.

For my images, I stamped them with Copic friendly Black Ink onto Smooth White Card Stock, colored with Copic Sketch Markers and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  Lastly, I stamped my sentiment with Black Ink at the bottom of my card before adhering my images with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares.

Here's a look at the current color swatch.  It's absolutely gorgeous!  Come play along with us for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!  Head on over to the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog for more details and crafty inspiration from the rest of the team.

Birthday Fishes - MFT Sketch Challenge 395

Hello friends!  Can you believe that it's already Wednesday again and time for a new MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge?  I know I say it a lot, but I love these challenges!  It's so much fun (and challenging) to try to think of something that fits the sketch layout for the week.

For my card this week, I created a fun underwater scene using the cute little fish from the BB Gill Friends Stamp Set and the ocean seaweed from the Adorned Ocean Friends Set.

For my ocean background, I blended some Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Dusty Concord, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot) onto a smooth piece of White Card Stock.  I then spritzed it lightly with water and blotted it dry with a paper towel.  Once dry, I then heat embossed some seaweed with some Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

Lastly, I added a strip of heavyweight Vellum across my card and heat embossed my sentiment with some Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.  It's sometimes hard to capture in photos but Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder gives a gorgeous hue (it's one of my favorites).

Here's a photo of this week's sketch!  I encourage you to come and play along!  One random winner will be chosen to win an MFT Gift Voucher.

MFT July Card Kit Release Day!

Hello crafty friends!  The Bundle of Balloons Card Kit is now available at the MFT Boutique!  You're going to love this kit!  And when I say that the glitter paper that comes with this kit is gorgeous, it's seriously gorgeous!

For my card today, I used one of the boys from the BB Little Buddies Stamp Set and added a few of my favorite balloons (the circular shaped ones) from the kit.  I love that you can add these balloons to just about any MFT Stamp Set that you own.

I wanted to keep my card simple and let the happy boy with his balloons be the focal point.  I first stamped his image onto smooth white card stock, colored him with Copics and used the coordinating die to cut him out.  I then quickly blended a few blue and warm grey Copic Markers to create a quick background.

For my balloons, I diecut four of them onto Smooth White Card Stock and then blended on some Distress Inks to color them.

Distress Inks Used:
  • Red Balloon:  Abandoned Coral and Candied Apples
  • Green Balloon: Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn
  • Blue Balloon: Cracked Pistachio and Salty Ocean
  • Yellow Balloon: Squeezed Lemonade and Fossilized Amber
I added some balloon strings by stamping them with some Gravel Grey Premium Dye Ink and then added my images with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares.  Lastly, I added a few details with a White Gel Pen and stamped my sentiment with Black Ink.

MFT July Card Kit - Day 2

Hello crafty friends!  I'm back again today with another fun example using the latest Card Kit from My Favorite Things.  This time, instead of using the glitter paper for the balloons, I used it in the background of the card for a fun sparkly frame.

I just love how versatile this kit is.  I used some of the same stamps and dies as yesterday but this card looks completely different.

For my cloudy background, I first blended some Broken China Distress Ink over top of the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil.  I then diecut a white frame using the Stitched Rectangle Frame Die-namics.

For my balloons, I simply die cut 6 balloons from some Smooth White Card Stock and then blended them with some Distress Oxide Inks (colors listed below).  I used a white gel pen for some added detail.  Before attaching them to my card, I stamped some balloon strings with some Gravel Grey Premium Dye Ink and then adhered the balloons with a few small 3D Foam Squares.

MFT July Card Kit - Day 1

Hello everyone!  I have a new Card Kit from My Favorite Things to share with you today!  It's called the Bundle of Balloons Kit.  And honestly, you can never have too many types of balloons when working with stamps, dies and card making.

For my card today, I made a fun but simple card showcasing some of the balloon dies and the gorgeous glitter paper that comes with it.  The picture doesn't do the paper justice.  The colors are very vivid and sparkly.  In fact, they're so pretty, I almost felt bad cutting into them when I made my card, lol.

I also love the sentiments that come with this set.  There are so many options to choose from.  And the nice thing about this set is that you can either choose to stamp or diecut your balloons with whatever inks or papers you desire.

The new kit will be available this coming Tuesday, July 24th at 9:00 PM EDT.  Head on over to the MFT Blog to see the fabulous creations designed by the rest of the participating DT Members.  Make sure to leave a comment there for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!

Cards With Confetti - MFT Birthday Project

Hello again!  This month's Birthday Project from My Favorite Things is all about cards with confetti.  Yes, it's messy but it sure is fun!

For my card today, I made a shaker card filled with colorful confetti.  I used various scraps of colored Card Stock and die cut them a few times using the Celebratory Confetti Die-namics.  I actually love this die set.  It was super easy to make some fun confetti of different shapes and sizes.

I also used the swirly dies from both the Heart Balloon Shaker & Frame and Mini Balloon Shaker & Frame Die-namics to cut some swirled pieces of confetti.  I used some foam adhesive tape, the largest Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics and some clear acetate to make a shaker window in which to hold my confetti.

In order to have some pieces always showing in all portions of the card, I glued a few to the background so that they wouldn't fall down when the card was upright.  Lastly, I added a fun little tropical bird (colored with Copics) from the Toucan Do It stamp set that was released last month.

MFT - Weekly Sketch Challenge 394

Hello everyone!  It's time for a new Weekly Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things!  If you've never played along with one of these challenges, you're missing out!  It's a great way to push your creativity and challenge yourself by trying to come up with something that fits the sketch but is all your own.

I decided to use this week's sketch as a window.  I wanted to make the card look like the inside of a house with the curious little garden gnomes peeking in from the outside.  I had a lot of fun interpreting this sketch and also tried something that I've never really done before....draw my own background!

In order to do the background, I first diecut a window using the newly released Gift Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics from a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of Tim Holtz Distress Woodgrain Paper.  I then used my Misti to place my gnomes over top of this piece to show where on the window I wanted them peeking in.  Before I stamped the images, I removed my woodgrain piece of card stock and replaced it with a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb Card Stock.  I then stamped my images with black ink and colored them with Copic Sketch Markers.

I got the idea for my background from last month's marker coloring class from Kit & Clowder.  If you've never taken one of Alyce's classes, you need to!  She is a wonderful teacher and is full of knowledge on proper coloring techniques.

Once finished with my background, I used some adhesive and attached it to the back of my woodgrain piece of cardstock with the window.  I added a frame from Kraft Card Stock.  Lastly, I heat embossed my simple sentiment onto a piece of black card stock with white embossing powder and attached it to the front of my card.

Here is a look at this week's Sketch Challenge.  I would love to challenge you to create something this time around!  Your design does not have to be perfect to win!  For every card entry, you earn the chance to win a $50 MFT Gift Voucher!

Saddle Up & Celebrate - MFT & Friends

Hello crafty friends!  I hope your day is off to a good start!  It's time for the July MFT & Friends Feature and I'm dropping by today to share some more MFT Inspiration with you!  If you haven't had a chance to check out the latest Birdie Brown release from MFT Stamps, you need to do so!

The latest set is called Saddle Up & Celebrate and it's full of so many fun illustrations & sentiments.

For my card today, I first created a Box Card base using a scoring board, a pair of scissors, a paper trimmer and some adhesive.  I then stamped my images onto some Smooth White Card Stock (I used the Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb), colored them with Copic Sketch Markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I added some patterned paper panels on the sides of my box from the Sweet Celebrations Paper Pack. For my light brown colored grass, I used the Grassy Edges Die-namics with the Neenah Desert Storm Card Stock.

I wanted to keep the Cow Print theme going in my scene, so I added a Cow Print Banner in the background.  In order to accomplish this, I simply diecut some white banner pieces using the Celebratory Banner Die-namics and then loosely colored in a cow pattern using a black marker.
