Wishing You a Harvest of Blessings - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #409

Hello!  I love working with the Wednesday Sketch Challenges from My Favorite Things.  I find that some sketches are more difficult than others to come up with a plan that works but I love the challenge in trying to find something that fits the layout.

For this week's sketch, I used one of the sweet little mice from the BB Harvest Mouse Stamp Set.  I placed him in a fall background where he can be seen quickly running up the hill with his bushel of berries to store for the winter.

Here's a look at the layout for this week's challenge (WCS #409).

To start, I first stamped my images onto smooth white card stock, colored with Copic Sketch Markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the background, I blended some Distress Inks for both the sky (Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks) and the grass (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Wild Honey).  For the grass, I spritzed it lightly with water and then let it dry.  Once dry, I splattered both some gold and white paint for some added texture.

I added some birch trees which I had diecut from smooth white card stock and colored by blending each tree with some brown Distress Inks (Tea Dye, Gathered Twigs, and Ground Espresso).

Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment with Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder and adhered my images with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares for some added dimension.

MFT Stamps - October Hits & Hightlights

Hello everyone!  This month's Hit & Highlights Feature is all about creating projects that are Merry & Bright.  The challenge was to either feature products that include "Merry" in their name or to add some brightness using our favorite lights.

My card today features the Merry Christmas Die-namics combined with the BB Jingle All the Way Stamp Set.  To start, I first stamped my images onto some Smooth White Card Stock, used my Copics to color them and then used their coordinating dies to cut them out.

I then created a background for my card by lightly blending some blue Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Salty Ocean) onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock.  I then spritzed this area lightly with water, blotted it dry with a paper towel and then splattered some Opaque White Paint to create the illusion of snow.

I diecut a snow drift using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and used the large stitched scalloped rectangle die from the Blueprints 27 Die-namics to trim both the snow and my background panel.  I then added this piece to a piece of patterned paper from the Candy Land Paper Pack.

I adhered my images to the card with some 3D foam adhesive squares and then added a few red pearl embellishments for added interest.

Hello everyone!  Today starts a brand new Color Challenge from MFT Stamps!  The color challenges are always fun because they really allow you the freedom to stretch your imagination and see what you can come up with with the color scheme presented.

For my card today, I created a fun Halloween Card since I thought that the challenge colors went perfectly with such a theme.

The colors in Challenge #104 are Steel Grey, Orange Zest, Wild Wisteria, and Lavender Fields.

To start my card, I first created a subtle ink-blended background using both Wild Wisteria and Lavender Fields Premium Dye Ink with my Clarity Stencil Brushes.  I added a few splashes of water and some opaque white paint splatters.  I then stamped my sentiment at the bottom with Black Ink.

For my images, I stamped them with Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock, colored them with Copics and used then cut them out.  I placed them with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares onto my card background.  I then layered this panel with a sheet of Steel Grey Card Stock and some pattered paper from the Petite Plaid Paper Pack.

Sending Holiday Cheer - MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge 408

Hello friends!  There's a brand new Wednesday Sketch Challenge up at MFT Stamps!

For my card today,  I created a fun shaker card with an embossed wintery background.  I was inspired by a card recently done by Jessica Frost Ballas for this snowy backdrop.  I first heat embossed some snowflakes from the Snowflake Splendor Stamp Set with Clear Embossing Powder.

I then blended some Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce and Chipped Sapphire) on top of the embossed snowflakes.  I lightly spritzed this panel with water and once dry, I added some opaque white ink splatters to resemble more snow.

I used various circle dies from the Circle STAX Die-namics Sets 1 & 2 to cut out a hole in the bottom left corner of my card as well as to make a circular white frame.  I glued one of the circle shaker windows into this area and added some Diamond Dust to the inside.  My cute little Penguin comes from the new Sweet Holiday Penguins Stamp Set by Stacey Yacula.

I added a snowy hill inside the shaker window using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics.  Lastly, I added my sentiment by heat embossing it onto Black Licorice Card Stock with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

MFT Festive Flamingos Card Kit Release

Hello friends!  The time has come to shop the latest Card Kit Release from My Favorite Things!  The Festive Flamingos Card Kit is filled with the cutest holiday flamingo stamp set, coordinating dies and beautiful pastel plaid patterned paper.

I've created a non-traditional Christmas Box Card to share with you today.  When it comes to Christmas, most people usually think of reds, greens and/or blues and lots of snow.  I wanted to go a different direction today and create a more tropical-themed Christmas card.  Where I live now, it never snows and it's considered "cold" if the temperature drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, lol.

That being said, we usually decorate our house and palm trees with lights every year in celebration of the holiday season.  When I first saw these flamingos, I thought that they were perfect for this type of a card!  To start, I first created the box base.  The dimensions can be found HERE on a previous blog post of mine.

I stamped the flamingos with Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, colored them with Copics (RV000, RV00, RV02, RV04, RV09) and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  I diecut some palm trees using the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics and blended the diecuts with some Distress Inks to add some shading.

Distress Inks Used:
  • Green Palm Fronds and Grass: Twisted Citron, Shabby Shutters, Forest Moss
  • Tree Trunks and Sand:  Tea Dye and Gathered Twigs
  • Pink Sky: Tattered Rose and Spun Sugar

I added a strand of Christmas lights using the lights from the BB Happy Pawlidays Stamp Set, some grass from the Grassy Edges Die-namics and sand using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics.  I layered the panels with some Tickled Pink Card Stock and Petite Plaid Paper Pack.  For my sentiment, I heat embossed it with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder on some Black Licorice Card Stock.

The new kit is now available in the MFT Boutique!  If  you like this kit and want the bundle deal, act fast before they sell out!

MFT Festive Flamingos Card Kit Countdown - Day 2

Hello crafty friends!  I'm sharing a card today featuring the Festive Flamingos Card Kit from My Favorite Things.  The pastel color palette on this kit is just gorgeous.  It frees you to make some non-traditional Christmas cards or to use it for something else altogether.

For my card today, I used two of the sweet flamingos from this set and placed them onto a snowy background where they can be seen ice skating.  I love the ice skates and the scarves on these two (usually tropical) birds, lol.  I stamped my flamingos onto some Smooth White Card Stock, colored with Copics and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Pink: RV000, RV00, RV02, RV04, RV09
  • Ice & Ice Skates: 0, C00, C0, C1, C2, C4
  • Blue Scarf: B000, B0, B01, B02, B06

For my background, I blended some MFT Premium Dye Inks (Tickled Pink, Wild Wisteria and Grapesicle) with my Clarity Stencil Brushes onto a a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock.  I then colored in the ice with some Cool Grey (colors listed above) Copic Sketch Markers.

I diecut this panel using one of the rectangle dies from the Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics Set 1 and then stamped my sentiment at the bottom with Black Ink.  I added some snow with a White Gel Pen and then adhered my flamingos with some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares.

Lastly, I mounted this to a vertical A2 Card Base which I had added some of the beautiful Pastel Plaid Patterned Paper that comes with this kit.

This kit and all new product links will be available tomorrow, October 23rd @ 10 AM EDT in limited bundle quantities. If you don't want the entire kit, the items will also be available separately at their regular prices.

MFT Stamps - Sweet Holiday Penguins & Festive Flamingos Card Kit

Hello everyone!  I have some very exciting news to share with you today!  We have a brand new illustrator joining us at MFT Stamps!  Many of you probably already know her amazing work, but as of Tuesday, a brand new set of her clear stamps and matching die-namics will be available through MFT monthly!

So, you might be asking 'who am I referring to'?.  Drum-roll please......it's Stacey Yacula!  Woo-hoo!  I absolutely love her sweet illustrations.  I created a fun shaker card today featuring her very first set of stamps for My Favorite Things called Sweet Holiday Penguins.  Aren't they so adorable?!

To start, I first stamped all of my images onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock with Black Ink.  I then colored them with Copics and used their coordinating dies to cut them out.  I went with a somewhat simple design for this card because I wanted the frolicking penguins to be the center of attention.

For my background, I blended some Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress Oxide Inks and then splattered that panel with some Opaque White Ink to resemble snow.  I added some snow drifts using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics and heat embossed my sentiment with Black Embossing Powder.

For the shaker component, I first diecut a white frame using the Stitched Rectangle Frames Die-namics.  I then used some .25" Foam Adhesive Tape to adhere it to my card.  I added some Diamond Dust to the inside of this frame and then glued a sheet of clear acetate on top.  I added one more frame on top to cover where I glued the acetate sheet and to give my card a clean look.  Once finished, I mounted the shaker panel onto a horizontal A2-sized card onto which I had already attached a piece of red patterned paper from the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Paper Pad.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and that you are as excited as I am to play with these new Stacey Yacula stamps.  Make sure to stop by the MFT Blog for more inspiration and to check out the October Card Kit!

The kit this month is called the Festive Flamingos Card Kit and I will be back tomorrow to share some inspiration using this super fun set.
