Birds of a Feather - MFT June Card Kit Release Day

Hello everyone!  The newest MFT Card Kit called "Birds of a Feather" is now available HERE in the MFT Boutique!  It's full of amazing goodies and is super versatile.

If you look at my card from my last post, it's completely different than this one, yet I used the same exact die set.  The only stamping that I did in this card was in the very front for the sentiment.

All I did for this card was to create a box card base using a scoring board, paper trimmer, card stock, scissors and adhesive.  I then diecut all of my bird pieces and card layers using various MFT colored Card Stock and patterned paper.

For the birdhouse, I first stamped a piece of Kraft Card Stock with the Wood Plank Background Stamp using some Chocolate Brown Ink.  I then used a few distress inks to give the wood a stained look and pieced it all together.  Super fun and simple.

Birds of a Feather - MFT June Card Kit Day 1

Hello everyone!  I have a brand new card kit from My Favorite Things to share with you today.  It's called Birds of a Feather and it's AMAZING.  I love this kit!  It's super versatile and can be used pretty much for any season or type of celebration.

I created a simple but vibrant card today featuring two little red birds.  It's perfect for an anniversary or engagement card when paired with the sentiment from the "A Tweet Hello" stamp set.
To create my birds, I first diecut them from some Smooth White Card Stock and then colored the pieces with some red and orange Copics.  All colors used will be listed below.

I also diecut some green foliage from Smooth White Card Stock and then used some green Copics to add some color.  I also created a very simple but elegant background by blending some white ink on top of the Moroccan Mosaic Stencil onto some Kraft Card Stock.  I used the A2 Stitched Rectangle Die-namics to cut this piece out and place it on top of an A2 sized Kraft card base.

I stamped my sentiment with some Black Ink and then adhered the birds to my card base with some 3D foam squares.

Make sure to head on over to the MFT Blog to see what other creations the Design Team has come up with.  Also, leave a comment there for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!

June Birthday Project Challenge - MFT Stamps

Hello friends!  It's time for this month's new Birthday Project Challenge from My Favorite Things!  This month is all about adding a birthday bear to your next project.

For my project today, I created a fun Birthday Box Card featuring the super cute "Beary Special Bears" Stamp Set.

I first stamped my images onto Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock with Copic friendly Black Ink and then colored them with my copics.

Once finished, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I then created the box/base of my card using a scoring board, pair of scissors, strong adhesive and a paper trimmer.  I added some panels using both Kraft Paper and the Sweet Celebrations Patterned Paper Pack.  I used the Grassy Edges Die-namics and Jellybean Green Card Stock to create some grass.

I added some clouds using the Cloud Stencil combined with some Blue Breeze Premium Ink Pad.

You're Fintastic - MFT Sketch Challenge 390

Hello crafty friends!  Its' time for a new Weekly Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things!  As always, the Weekly Sketch Challenge's are so much fun!

I did a fun card with some faux-portholes for my take on the sketch.  I first stamped my images from the amazing BB Gill Friends Stamp Set onto some Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock with Copic friendly black ink and colored them (colors used will be listed at the bottom of this post).  I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I first created the background portion of my card by blending some Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso Distress Inks onto a smooth white piece of card stock.

Once dry, I used some dark brown ink to stamp some woodgrain texture by using the Wood Grain Background Stamp.  This background stamp is one of my absolute favorites.

I then used Circle STAX Die-namics Set 1 and Set 2 to both cut out some porthole circles in the base of my card and to also create a circular frame.

To get a shine on them, I stamped the circle frames with clear Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with some Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder.  I then added some silver Brads to imitate the bolts on a porthole.

I then added some water background by blending Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks.

For my sentiment, I used the "You're Fintastic" from the Beach Buddies Stamp Set and cut it out the one of the smaller dies from the Hearts In A Row - Vertical Die-namics Set.

Here's a look at this week's sketch.  Head on over to the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog to see some more crafty inspiration from the design team!  Also, join in earn a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!

MFT Color Challenge 95

Hello friends!  I'm here today to share with you a card I made for the latest My Favorite Things Color Challenge.  The colors for Challenge 95 are White, Lush Lagoon, Kraft and Daffodil.

My card today features the Pure Innocence "Fun In The Sun" Set combined with the Whimsical Waves Background Stamp.  I started off by stamping my images onto smooth white card stock with Copic friendly black ink.  I then colored the images with my Copics (all colors listed at the very bottom of this post) and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the background, I first cut a piece of smooth white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5" and wiped it with anti-static embossing powder.  I then used the Whimsical Waves Background Stamp, clear Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder to heat emboss the waves onto a portion of this piece.  Once dry, I blended some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink and Lush Lagoon Hybrid Ink over top of my embossed background pattern.  I spritzed this lightly with water and lightly patted it dry with a paper towel.

Once dry, I then used the largest A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics to cut this piece.  I then stamped my sentiment in the top left corner with Black Ink.  Once complete, I adhered this piece to a top-folding white A2 sized card base and then attached my images with some 3D foam squares.

Pretty Pink Posh: June Blog Hop

Hello everyone!  I am so excited to be a Guest Designer as part of the Pretty Pink Posh June Release Blog Hop!  I have been a big fan of Pretty Pink Posh for a while now and I just love this new release.  If you are following the hop, you should have just come from the very talented Ardyth Percy-Robb.

My card today features the newly released Geraniums Stamp Set combined with the Hello Shaker Die.  I love the combination of the two.  The Geraniums Stamp Set is absolutely gorgeous and so much fun to work with.

I first stamped my flowers and leaves onto Kraft Card Stock with black ink and used my Prismacolor Pencils to color them.  I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Prismacolors used:

  • White
  • Hot Pink 993
  • Process Red 994
  • Dahlia Purple 1009
  • Black Grape 996
  • Chartreuse 989
  • Apple Green 912
  • Grass Green 909
  • Dark Green 908

For the shaker component, I die cut the Hello Shaker Die from white card stock and glued a piece of clear acetate behind the window.  I then added a combination of 4MM & 3MM Sparkling Clear Sequins for the embellishment and used some 3D foam adhesive tape to mount it to my card.  I adhered everything to a top-folding A2 sized Kraft card base.  Lastly, I added a few Clear Droplets for some added interest.

Have a Clawsome Day - MFT & Friends

Hello everyone!  It's time for another MFT & Friends!  This is where the MFT Design Team and MFT Guest Designers are challenged to look at the newest release with fresh eyes and come up with something new to share with you!

I have made a fun interactive slider card today featuring the Just Beclaws Stamp Set.

I first created my beach scene.  I used the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics to diecut some pieces for the sand from smooth white card stock.  I then blended these pieces with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  I added some dots for texture using Copic colors E47, E35, E31 and a white gel pen.

After I placed some slider tracks on the bottom of my 4.25" x 5.5" card panel, I cut another panel for my slider portion at 4 3/8 x 3.75".  I stamped my sentiment onto this piece.

I then added some adhesive foam squares to support my slider items.  For the first and third slider tracks, I tripled the adhesive foam.

I also added some ribbon to the back of this panel before sealing it to my standard A2 top folding sized base.

I lined everything up as to where it would be once the card was put together and added adhesive foam tape where necessary.

This card was a lot of fun to make.  I added some tufts of grass using the largest of the two Grassy Edges Die-namics and some clouds with the Cloud Stencil and some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

The birds came from the BB Party Like a Pirate Stamp Set.

I wanted to create this scene similar to the ways crabs just seem to pop up out of the sand at the real beach.

Here's a quick video to see the card in action.
