MFT March Birthday Project Challenge - ROYGBIV

Hello, friends!  This month's Birthday Project Challenge from MFT Stamps is all about adding rainbows or rainbow colors to your birthday cards.  I have two cards to share with you today.

I created some fun rainbow backgrounds that go perfectly with the BB Magical Unicorns Stamp Set.

For my first card, I started by blending some Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, and Dusty Concord) onto a sheet of Distress Watercolor Paper.  I then spritzed this panel lightly with water and blotted it dry.  I also added some splatters of Opaque White Paint for some added interest.

I used the A2 Rectangle Frames and Shaker Pouches to create a full A2 panel shaker card.

As I mentioned in a previous post, if you are using the A2 Shaker Pouches, make sure to add your embellishments to the center of the card prior to gluing on the pouch so that none of the embellishment impede the pouch from sticking to your card base.

I stamped all of my images with Copic friendly Black Ink and colored them with Copic Sketch Markers.

I love how easily my embellishments shake and sparkle with these amazing A2 Shaker Pouch Windows.

I did my second card similarly but blended my rainbow in a diagonal pattern instead of vertical as in the previous card.

I used the LJD Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows Die-namics to add a beautiful stitched circle to the center of my panel.  Prior to adhering anything, I stamped my sentiment with Black Ink, using my MISTI.

I added my unicorn into the center of this circle using some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares to allow it some extra dimension without being too bulky.

Come play along with us this month for a chance to win!  Head on over to the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog for all the details and to see what the rest of the participating DT Members have come up with.

Thank you all so much for dropping by!

  2. Well, both of these cards made my day! I am especially partial to the shaker card. There is an idiosyncratic air about the whimsy and magic of shaker cards in general. Fabulous cards Rachel! Thank you so much for sharing them. Cheers.
