Painted Prints Card Kit - Day 2

Hello friends!  It's day 2 of the My Favorite Things Painted Prints Card Kit.  This kit is just gorgeous and so versatile.

I have a very simple card to share with you today.  I simply created my own background paper with the Painted Prints Stamp Set with a number of Premium Dye Inks (all colors listed below).

I then cut this piece out with one of the A2 Stitched Rectangle Die-namics and set it aside.  For the center of my card, I used the A2 Stitched Rectangle Die-namics along with the Smile Die-namics to create my shaker portion.  I used a piece of Sno Cone Card Stock as the backing to this piece and filled it with Sparkling Crystals.

I then attached this piece to the center of my card and added a few adhesive half pearls for embellishment.

Lastly, I stamped my sentiment "Thinking of You" on the inside of my card with Extreme Black Ink.

The Painted Prints Card Kit will be available tomorrow, May 22nd, at 9:00 PM EST.  And as with all MFT Card Kits, if you want one, it's best not to wait since they usually sell out within a few hours.

Painted Prints Card Kit - Day 1

Hello everyone!  I'm here to share with you the latest My Favorite Things Card Kit.  This kit is called The Painted Prints Kit and it's so beautiful!

I used a few of the roses with my card today as well as the free Vase Die-namics that is included with orders $60 and up.  This card was very simple to create as I wanted the focus to be on the flowers.

I used a variety of MFT Premium Dye Inks (shown in the links below) to create this fun little bouquet.  It's a bit difficult to see in the picture, but I embossed the English Brick Stencil onto the background behind my bouquet.

For added interest, I adhered a Scalloped Rectangle Frame around the outside of my vase of roses and then added a mix of Clear Round Drops.

This fun floral kit will be available this coming Tuesday, May 22nd at 9:00 PM EST.  Head on over to the MFT Blog for some more crafty inspiration.  Make sure to leave a comment there for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday From The Whole Herd - MFT Sketch Challenge 385

Hello again!  It's time for another Weekly Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things!

I used one of my all-time favorite stamp sets for my card today; BB The Whole Herd.  I really had a lot of fun coloring these images (all colors are listed at the very bottom of this post).  I rotated this week's sketch for my layout.  I used both the Gingham Galore and Black & White Stripes Paper Pack for my patterned paper pieces.  For my background, I lightly blended some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink onto smooth white card stock with a Clarity Stencil Brush.

I stamped my images onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb paper with black ink, colored them with Copics (again, colors listed below), and then diecut them with their coordinating dies.

For the base of my card, I used some Kraft and Wild Cherry Card Stock.  I stamped my sentiment onto some Kraft Card Stock and used the Lip Balm Window Die to cut it out.  I then diecut some Jellybean Green Card Stock with the Fab Foliage Die-namics to add some greenery.

Color Throwdown 493

Hello!  I'm back with another guest post for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.  The colors this week are Aqua, Lime and White.  I absolutely love this week's color combination and inspirational photo.

I went with an ocean-themed card today.  For my ocean waves, I used the My Favorite Things Drifts & Hills Stencil and blended some Blue Raspberry Ink in various depths.  I then used the Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX to cut this piece.  To add some dimension, I used some 3D foam tape to re-attach the outer rectangle frame.

For my mermaid, I used the MFT BB Mermazing Stamp Set.  I stamped my images onto smooth white card stock with black ink, colored them with Copics and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  For the various shades of green seaweed, I used both Gumdrop Green Premium Ink and Twisted Citron Distress Ink.

I stamped my sentiment in black ink prior to attaching this piece to the base of my card and finished off my card with a few Clear Round Drops.

Here's a look at this week's Color Swatch and Inspirational Photo.

Have a Flamazing Day - MFT & Friends

Hello friends!  It's time for another MFT & Friends post where the MFT Design Team is challenged to take a fresh look at the most recent release.  Since My Favorite Things always comes out with a ton of amazing products every month, I really like this challenge because it gives me a chance to play with a set that I haven't had a chance to use yet.

For my card today, I used the newly released Let's Flamingle Set.  I wanted to try something a little bit different and slightly out of my comfort zone and make my own background scene before adding my images.  To start, I masked off a few areas of this card using the Drifts & Hill Stencil and some Distress Inks.  I first blended some Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to create my sand.  I added some dots with Copics and a White Gel Pen for some added interest.  I also used the stencil and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink to create my sea.  For the sky, I blended Squeezed Lemonade, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick Distress and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks.

I stamped all of my images onto smooth white card stock, colored them with Copics and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  For my palm trees, I used the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics and blended the pieces with both green and brown Distress Inks.

I stamped my sentiment in Black Ink and added some glitter to the margarita and umbrella with a clear Wink of Stella pen.  I finished my card of with a frame using the Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frame Die-namics.

I hope you've enjoyed my card today!  Don't forget to stop by the MFT Blog to see what the rest of the participating DT Members have created and to also see our latest MFT & Friends Guest Designers!

Mermaid Trolls Box Card - Craftin Desert Divas

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I don't know about you, but they always go by way too quickly!

I am thrilled to be back with another guest post for the Craftin Desert Divas May Release.  My card today features the newly release Mermaid Trolls combined with the previously released Ocean Border Dies, Island Dies and Memaid Lagoon Stamp Set.

I decided to go with a fun peek-a-boo horizontal 3D Box Card today.  I love creating cards with scenes, so this one was extra fun to make.  I first created my box with card stock, a scoring board, scissors, and paper trimmer.  I blended some Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire) for the ocean waves and used the Ocean Border Dies to diecut them.  I also used the Ocean Border Dies to create my ocean floor.  I diecut a piece of white card stock and then colored the ocean floor and seaweed etc with Copics.

I then added a seahorse and fish (also colored with Copics) from the Memaid Lagoon Stamp Set and added some bubbles with some Glossy Accents.  For the islands in the background, I fussy cut some Kraft Card Stock and blended it with some Old Paper and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  I did the same with the trunks of the palm tress and coconuts (from the Island Dies Set).

How To Create a Simple Bokeh Background - MFT Tips & Tricks

Hello everyone!  If you've been card making for a long time, I'm sure you are familiar with the Bokeh Effect Background.  I just stumbled across this technique earlier this year but it's super simple and a lot of fun.  Bokeh basically means that an area of you photograph (or card in this case) looks out-of-focus.

I made this simple card with a cool Bokeh Background simply using three different inks and the newly released Basic Shapes - Circle Stencil.

I started with a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Card Stock 110 lb, slightly larger than my usual 4.25" x 5.5" card base size.  I taped it down with some post-it tape.

I then blended some Blue Raspberry Premium Ink and Twisted Citron Distress Ink onto this panel.

Once dry, I used the Basic Shapes  - Circle Stencil and some Picket Fence White Distress Ink to start blending various sized and various intensities of white circles around my card.

To finish, I used my finger dauber without the stencil to put small white circles full of ink in various places around my panel.

I then let it dry.  Once dry, the effect is much more softer and effective.

And here is the final effect!  Pretty simple and lots of fun!

MFT Little Buddies - Just Add Color

Hello friends!  For my MFT Just Add Color feature today,  I'm sharing my coloring of the newly released BB Little Buddies Stamp Set and the colors that I used.

When I first saw this set, I fell in love with it.  The boys in this set actually remind me of my two little boys, so it was easy for me to decide how I wanted to color them.

I stamped all of my images with black ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock.  I then used Copics to color them (all colors listed below) and then cut them out with their coordinating dies.

Copic Colors Used

  • Red Shirt: R14, R26, R48, RV99

Love You A Bunch - MFT Sketch Challenge 384

I'm back with another Weekly Wednesday Sketch Challenge for My Favorite Things!

For my card this week, I used the newly released Pure Innocence Love You a Bunch Set.  I stamped my image with black ink onto smooth white card stock, colored with Copics and then diecut it with the coordinating dies.

For my background, I blended some Picked Raspbery, Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Inks over the Abstract Stencil.  I then placed a piece of translucent vellum on top of this back panel in order to soften it.

I then added a white frame using the Stitched Rectangle Frame Die-namics.  Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment onto black card stock with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder and then diecut it with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips.
Here's a look at this week's sketch!  Come play along with us this week for a chance to win!  Details can be found on the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog.  Make sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for some more inspiration!
