Frosty Friends - MFT November Countdown Release - Day 3

Hello everyone!  I hope you all have been enjoying the past few days of the newest MFT Stamps release previews!  I'm back today to share a new, fun set featuring some really cute snowmen.  It's called Frosty Friends and I've used one of the snowmen today to create a fun double-layer shaker card.

I have loved making these double-layered shaker cards lately, and if you missed the one that I made the other day, I referred to an informative video done on this process by Jennifer McGuire that you can check out HERE.  Her video is on creating shaker ornaments but the process for applying it to your cards is the same.  I just love the scenic-dimension that it creates.

To start, I first stamped my images with Copic friendly Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb Card Stock.  I then colored them with Copic Sketch Markers and cut them out with their coordinating dies.  I also added a little Santa hat from the BB Beast Friends Set.

Copic Colors Used
  • Whites: 0, C00, C0, C1, C2, C4
  • Greens: YG01, YG07, YG17, G28
  • Reds: R14, R27, R46, R59

For the background of my card, I blended some blue Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean) and then heat embossed the tress (from the new Stacey Yacula Warm and Feathered Hugs Stamp Set) with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder once the distressed background was dry.  I then splattered this panel with some white paint for a snowy-effect.

I added some snow drifts using the Snow Drift Die-namics and created a double-layer shaker card border by diecutting the largest Stitched Rectangle Frame Die-namics about 11 times.  I glued 5 of these pieces together for two separate stacks and added my clear acetate between each layer.  I used the final frame for the outside frame of my card.  For my sentiment, I used some Heat Resistant Acetate and heat embossed my sentiment with Black Embossing Powder.  Lastly, I used my favorite candy cane striped patterned paper from the Candy Land Patterned Paper Pack to frame my card.

There are only three more days until the new release becomes available!  Don't forget to stop by the MFT Blog for today's post and leave a comment there for a chance to win a $75 MFT Gift Voucher!  For more new-release inspiration, make sure to check out the amazing creations done by the rest of the participating DT Members!
