Birdie Brown 'Ready, Set, Snow' - MFT November Release Countdown - Day 4

Hello everyone!  I am back today to share with you the latest MFT stamp set from Birdie Brown.  I love all things Birdie Brown and just adore this set!

It's called Ready, Set, Snow and it's "snow" much fun!  These animals are having so much fun celebrating the winter season!  I decided to go with a non-traditional winter-themed card today and use an ink-blended red sky.  Even though it's not very realistic, I love how the deep colors of the sky contrast with the whiteness of the snow.

To create the background, I blended some Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon, Abandoned Coral, Barn Door, and Fired Brick) onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 80 lb Card Stock.  I then spritzed this piece lightly with water, blotted it with a paper towel and allowed it a few minutes to dry.  Once ready, I then splattered some Opaque White Paint over this panel to resemble snow.

I stamped all of my images with Black Ink onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock, colored them with Copics and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  For two of the snowboards, I stamped the image onto a piece of patterned paper from the Bundles of Blossoms Bright Paper Pack, adding some shading with my Copics and then fussy cut them out to piece them on top of the snowboards.  I then traced over the pattern with a White Gel Pen so that the pattern would really pop.

Copic Colors Used:

  • Whites: 0, C00, C0, C1, C2, C4
  • Greens (except trees): YG01, YG07, YG17, G28
  • Reds: R14, R27, R46, R59
  • Blues: B21, B24, B37, B39
  • Beige (in scarf): E40, E42, E44
  • Light Blue in ski masks: B0000, B000, B02
  • House sidings: E21, E11, E31, E08
  • House Roof: W5, W7, W9
  • Penguin: W5, W7, W9, 100
  • Trees: YG06, YG17, G29

I added some snow drifts using the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics (which I honestly can't get enough of when creating winter cards).  Lastly, after stamping my sentiment in Black Ink, I adhered everything to the base of my card with some adhesive.  I used 3D Foam Squares to attach my animals for some added dimension.
