Botanical Backdrop Die - Sunny Studio Stamps

Hello friends!  I am sharing two cards today that feature the gorgeous Botanical Backdrop Die from Sunny Studio Stamps.

For my first card, I created a fun shaker card and combined the Botanical Backdrop Die with the cute Magical Mermaids Stamp Set.  I thought that the leafy frame could pass as some ocean foliage and nicely frame a little underwater scene.  I colored all of my images with Copic Sketch Markers and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the underwater background, I blended some Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet, and Dusty Concord) onto a sheet of Ranger White Watercolor Paper.  I then spritzed this panel lightly with water, blotted it dry with a paper towel and then set it aside to completely dry.

Once my background was ready, I added some 3D Foam Adhesive Tape around the edges and added my embellishments.  I heat embossed my sentiment with Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder onto a sheet of Heat Resistant Acetate.  Once I attached the acetate, I then glued the final frame onto the outside of the card.

For my second card, I didn't do any stamping at all.  I simply diecut my images and lightly blended them with some ink.  I used the Colorbox Ocean Ink for the green/blue tint and the Colorbox Lemonade Ink for the small yellow flowers.

I added a sheet of the Gingham Pastels Paper Pack to the background and then adhered a 3D version of the sentiment "Hello" by diecutting it 5 times.

MFT March Birthday Project Challenge - ROYGBIV

Hello, friends!  This month's Birthday Project Challenge from MFT Stamps is all about adding rainbows or rainbow colors to your birthday cards.  I have two cards to share with you today.

I created some fun rainbow backgrounds that go perfectly with the BB Magical Unicorns Stamp Set.

For my first card, I started by blending some Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, and Dusty Concord) onto a sheet of Distress Watercolor Paper.  I then spritzed this panel lightly with water and blotted it dry.  I also added some splatters of Opaque White Paint for some added interest.

I used the A2 Rectangle Frames and Shaker Pouches to create a full A2 panel shaker card.

As I mentioned in a previous post, if you are using the A2 Shaker Pouches, make sure to add your embellishments to the center of the card prior to gluing on the pouch so that none of the embellishment impede the pouch from sticking to your card base.

I stamped all of my images with Copic friendly Black Ink and colored them with Copic Sketch Markers.

I love how easily my embellishments shake and sparkle with these amazing A2 Shaker Pouch Windows.

I did my second card similarly but blended my rainbow in a diagonal pattern instead of vertical as in the previous card.

I used the LJD Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows Die-namics to add a beautiful stitched circle to the center of my panel.  Prior to adhering anything, I stamped my sentiment with Black Ink, using my MISTI.

I added my unicorn into the center of this circle using some 3D Foam Adhesive Squares to allow it some extra dimension without being too bulky.

Come play along with us this month for a chance to win!  Head on over to the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog for all the details and to see what the rest of the participating DT Members have come up with.
