Lawn Fawn 3D Pop-Up Halloween Card

Happy Halloween, my crafty friends!  I wanted to share with you one last Halloween card that I made which features the Happy Haunting and Costume Party Stamp Sets from Lawn Fawn.  I couldn't resist getting my hands on these adorable sets after I first saw them!  I wanted this card to have a ton of dimension, so I used both a floating floor and some pop-up add-ons to create this effect.

To start my card, I first stamped my images onto some smooth white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I then colored all of my images using Copic Sketch Markers (colors used are listed at the bottom of this post).  Once done coloring, I used their coordinating dies to cut them out.

I then created the ink-blended background sky for my card by blending some distress inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, and Fossilized Amber) onto a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb Cardstock.  I trimmed this piece down to size and glued it to the base of my card.  Next, I added a flat grassy hillside on top of this by using the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders with black cardstock.

Once my background was complete, I then created the pop-up portion of my card.  I wanted to fit everything into a standard A2-sized card that stood horizontally.  So, I first cut a piece of black cardstock at 5.5" by 8.5" and scored on the long side at 4.25".  I then added the floating floor.  In order to do this, I cut another piece of black cardstock at 5.5" x 5" and scored along the 5" side at 3.8", 3 1/8" and 3 4/8" (or 3.5"....same measurement).  You don't have to score the second two lines exactly at these dimensions, I just prefer to have a larger area in the front of my card that lays flat for a sentiment.  Once I had my floor scored, folded and ready to go, I then die-cut the Stitched Hillside Pop-Up by Lawn Fawn from black cardstock and also the Grassy Hillside Pop-Up Add-On.  Before I adhered anything to the base of my card, I lined these all up and decided where I wanted to place my images.  I then used a razor to cut some slits into my floor base where I knew that I wanted a few of my trick-or-treaters to stand.  Once this was all done, I then glued my floor, followed by the grassy hillside pop-up on top of it.  Lastly, I added some L-shaped brackets (they're glued to the bottom of my card under the floor) to hold my images (see photo above).

Once my pop-up base was secure, I added my images to both the pop-up hillsides and the floating floor and glued a wrought iron fence (from the Happy Haunting Set) in front of my scene.  I simply diecut this fence twice and glued it together in the middle after cutting it to size.

I also added some "flying" ghosts and bats by using some clear acetate.

I totally love the 3D look to this card!  It's seriously so much fun to open and close it, lol.

On a side note, I did misjudge the placement of my haunted house and the very tip of it was just slightly sticking out when I shut the card.  In order to fix this, I ended up adding another base to the back of my card that measured at 5.5" x 9.25" when cut and scored at 4 5/8" on the long side of this piece.  Not a big deal since I will be hand-delivering this card!

Lastly, I worked on the front of this card.  I love the idea of keeping the front of the card simple since the inside is so detailed.  I followed a similar idea done by Kelly Marie Alvarez (one of the creators of Lawn Fawn) shown in this video HERE.   I simply created a sleeve to hold my card shut with a piece of 2.5" x 12" white cardstock that I glued together in the back of my card.  I added some patterned paper using the Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Fall Paper Pad.  I then adhered some more ghosts with 3D foam pop-up squares.

Here's a short clip that shows how easily the card folds flat with all of the pop-up dimensions added on.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Critters4Halloween - The Stamps of Life

Hello fellow paper crafters!  I'd love to quickly share with you today a single layer Halloween card that I made using the super cute Critters4Halloween Stamp Set from The Stamps of Life.

Critters4Halloween

I started off by lightly drawing my hillside with a pencil onto smooth white cardstock.  I then stamped and masked my images of each critter with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I then traced and fussy cut a large circle from masking paper and placed it over part of my images.  Once done, I used Distress Inks (Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot) to blend my background.  I used a white gel pen to add the stars.

To finish the card, I removed all masking paper and colored the rest of the images with Copic Sketch Markers.

I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Trick Or Treat Friends Box Card - Pretty Pink Posh

Hello friends!  I have a fun Halloween-themed box card to share with you today!  This card mainly features the adorable Trick or Treat Friends Stamp Set by Pretty Pink Posh.  I just love these cute little characters!

To start my card, I first stamped my images with black ink onto smooth white cardstock.  I then colored my images with Copic Sketch Markers.  I slightly altered the little boy's cape to resemble Dracula.

 Copic Colors Used:
Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04
Boy's Cape: R14, R46, R59, RV99
Boy's Outfit: N3, N6, N8
Boy's Hair: W5, W7, W9
Girl's Hair: E34, E57, E59
Girl's Top: V15, V17, BV08
Girl's Skirt: YG06, YG09, G09
Pumpkin: Y17, YR15, YR18, E19
Pumpkin Stem: YG25, YG97
Crow: N5, N6, N8
Once my figures and accessories were colored, I cut them with their coordinating dies.  Since I had changed the boy's cape, I had to fussy cut him.  I then created a 5.5" x 5.5" box card (when folded) and added some patterned paper paneling using the Midnight Haunting Paper Pad by Pebbles

I used the Grassy Fields Die-namics by My Favorite Things for the grass and diecut some twiggy trees using the Build-a-Scene-Winter Trees Die Set by Taylored Expressions.

Lastly, for the spooky background, I used the Haunted House Insert Die by Tonic Studios.  I LOVE this die!  It fit perfectly in the background of my box card and set up the perfect scene for these trick-or-treaters.  I diecut this piece out of black cardstock and then adhered it to an ink blended panel.  For the ink blending, I combined Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Fossilized Amber Distress Inks.

I will be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

Bow Dies and Trendy Merry Christmas Die Set - The Stamps of Life

Happy Friday, my friends!  I have some fun new releases from The Stamps of Life to share with you today!  The first new release is called the Trendy Merry Christmas Die Set.  Isn't it beautiful? The differing fonts really add an elegant touch to your Christmas cards.  I paired this set with the previously released Santa2stamp Stamp & Die Set.

For some added dimension, I diecut Santa's beard, mustache and the white parts of his hat from TSOL Powdered Sugar Wool Felt.

The second new release that I would like to share with you is the Small Bow Die.  You can create a variety of bows and use them on different types of crafty projects.

Small Bow Die

I made a small favor box with some patterned paper from The Stamps of Life.  For the top of the box, I embossed my paper using the Flower Power Embossing Folder

I love the elegance of this embossing folder.  The box was super easy to make and to top it off, I just added one pink paper bow and I was done!

Lastly, I embellished a card using the bow dies.  I created a fun little scene using the Hippo2stamp stamp set and coordinating dies.  I used some SOL Seaglass Ink and a finger dauber to create the cloud background.  In order to achieve this effect, I diecut the largest cloud from the Sizzix Triplits Hello Sunshine Die Set from heavy cardstock and used it as a stencil.

I diecut some grass using the Sizzix Tree Step-ups Die Set and green cardstock.  For the banner, I used the Sampler Dies and I added a birthday hat and balloon from the Late4birthday stamp and dies.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!  I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Happy Stamping!

FLASH SALE: Two New Sizzix Die Sets at The Stamps of Life

Happy Sunday everyone!  I wanted to share with you two new die sets that were released today at a special 24 hour flash sale price over at The Stamps of Life.  The first is called the Sizzix Celebrate 3-D Drop-ins Sentiment Die Set.  It makes the perfect pop-up for the inside of any type of congratulatory card.  I love the bold font!

Sizzix Celebrate 3-D Drop-ins Sentiment Die Set

This die set is perfect for making a quick and easy, yet really fun and professional-looking card.  For my example, I made a birthday card.  There was no stamping involved in this card and it came together with just a few die cuts.

I paired the new Celebrate 3-D Drop-ins set with the Sizzix 5x7 Circle Flip-its Card Set for both the inside and outside of my card.

Sizzix 5x7 Circle Flip-its Card Set

I love the 5x7 Circle Flip-ts Card Set.  Even if you don't want to make a 5x7 card, it has so many amazing dies that come with it that are perfect to coordinate with any other birthday card that you want to make.  I used the circular Happy Birthday Sentiment, Cupcake and Balloon dies from this set.

Isn't that circular Happy Birthday Word Die so beautiful?  It fills up almost the entire front side of my card.  I simply added a few balloons, some ribbon and I was done!  The scalloped panels came from the Sizzix Flowers/Sentiments Scalloped Edge Drop-ins Die Set.

Sizzix Flowers/Sentiments Scalloped Edge Drop-ins Die Set

Although this set is not necessary to use the Celebrate 3-D Drop-ins Set, the scalloped edges do compliment and soften the look of most A2 sized cards when used.

The second die set that is available today at a special flash sale price is the Sizzix Thank You Card Front Die Set.  It's such a beautiful background die.  You really don't need much else when using this background die.  I decided to add a butterfly from the Sizzix Half A2 Card Die Set to add some extra dimension to my card, but again, this Thank You Background Die would look beautiful on its own.

Reindeer Pudgie, Extras4pears and Doublebanner2stamp

Hello!  I have another fun Pudgie stamp set by Stephanie Barnard to share with you today!  It's called Reindeerpudgie9.  Along with the chunky reindeer and coordinating dies, it comes with some cute sentiments and little candy cane stamps as well!

Reindeerpudgie9

For my first example, I made a fun little Christmas box card.  I decided to use the faces4stamps stamp set to make his eyes more cartoonish.

I used the Stamps of Life exclusive Box Card Die Set for my base and decorated the panels using some patterned paper from the Ho Ho Ho Patterned Paper Pad.

The little sign came from the Sizzix Labels Fancy #2 Stamps & Dies and the large gift from the Birthday4Cookie stamp set.

For my second example, I combined the Reindeer Pudgie with the Sizzix Large Circle #4 Flip-its Card Die Set.  I used the hats4critters stamp and die set to give my reindeer a cute little Santa hat.

The next newly released set that I'd like to share with you is called the Doublebanner2stamp.

Doublebanner2stamp

I made a fun little birthday shaker card featuring the large double banner using the Happy Birthday sentiment.

I paired this with the Sizzix Triplits Cupcake on top of some paper from the "So Special" Patterned Paper Pad

For my frame, I used both the Stamps of Life Stitched Only Square Dies and Square Dies.

Lastly, I would like to quickly show you an example using the Extra4pears stamp set.  This set coordinates with the Club Pear Stamp Set that was released earlier this month.  Isn't that houndstooth patterned pear so much fun?

That's all for today!  Thanks for stopping by.  If you want some more inspiration, be sure to check out The Stamps of Life Gallery Website

Sizzix Horizontal Sentiments Drop-ins and TSOL Christmas Statement Set - FLASH SALE

Hello!  I have one last post to share with you today!  In addition to the new Club Stamps, the Stamps of Life has also released TWO other stamp/die sets!  Both of these sets are available today at a FLASH SALE of an additional 25% off.

Sizzix Horizontal Sentiments Drop-ins

This first set is a die set that includes 3 different scripty sentiments.  It's called the Sizzix Horizontal Sentiments Drop-ins Die Set.  This set coordinates with the previously released Sizzix Horizontal Card Front Drop-in (shown below).

Sizzix Horizontal Card Front Drop-in

These sets make perfect shaker cards, or quick and beautiful cards for so many occasions!

For this card, I used the sentiment that says "hello my friend" and made a shaker card.  I used the "Sunshine" Collection Patterned Paper Pad and added some green shaker embellishments from the Shiny Yummies Embellishment - Set 1.  I also used the double-sided adhesive foam by The Stamps of Life to get the dimension that I needed to make this a shaker card.  This foam makes shaker cards super easy with very little mess!

I used the Sizzix Flowers & Fence Stamps & Dies to create the flowers and the leaves.  I simply shaped the flowers to give them more dimension.  More inspiration with this set can be found HERE.

Christmas Statement Set

The second set that was released today is the Christmas Statement Set.  How beautiful is that large word die?

I created a simple card that I hoped would showcase the bold and elegant font of the die.  The fun patterned paper came from this month's Hope & Joy Card Kit Club.

If you would like more inspiration with this set, check out The Stamps of Life "Statement Words" Gallery Webpage.

Thank you again for stopping by my blog today!
