MFT April Release Countdown Day 3!

Hello crafty friends!  I am so excited to share with you the newest Pure Innocence Stamp Set from My Favorite Things.  It's called "Birthday Pinata" and it's just the cutest!

For my card today, I created a fun little birthday party scene.  Pinatas were one of my most favorite things to have at a birthday party when I was little, so this set brings back a lot of fun memories.  I combined this set with a tree limb from the Harvest Buddies Stamp Set and a cute little bunny from the Sweet Forest Friends Stamp Set.  I thought that the branch was a perfect addition from which to hang the pinata.

For my background, I diecut a piece of smooth white card stock with the Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics Set 2 and then lightly blended some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink onto this piece with a Clarity Stencil Brush.  I then colored in some grass with some green Copic Sketch Markers (YG0000, YG01, YG11, YG25).

I stamped my images with black ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock and then colored them with Copics (all colors used will be listed at the very bottom of this post).  I then used the coordinating dies to cut out my images.  I adhered them to my card with some 3D foam squares for some added dimension and used a piece of twine to "hang" my pinata.  Before I adhered everything, I stamped my sentiment with some black ink.

Head on over to the MFT Blog for more sneak peeks on other products being revealed today and to see the amazing projects the rest of the team has created.  Also, don't forget to leave a comment there for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!

MFT April Release Countdown Day 4!

Hello friends!  It's only four days until the new My Favorite Things release becomes available!  I am so excited to share the newest Birdie Brown Stamp Set called "Rain or Shine".

To create my card, I first started with the background.  Using a piece of smooth white card stock, I lightly blended some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink with a Clarity Stencil Brush.  I then spritzed this with a little bit of water and let it dry.  Once dry, I then die cut this piece with the Double Stitched Rectangle Die-namics. I then used some Pearl Texture Luxe Metallic Paste on top of the new Mini Raindrops Stencil and added a few raindrops.

I then added a piece of patterned paper from the Proper Pinstripes Paper Pack to my A2 card base and stamped my sentiment in black ink.  I used some 3D foam tape to adhere my rainy scene background on top of the patterned paper.  I then stamped my images onto smooth white card stock and colored with Copics.

Colors Used:
  • Skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04
  • Coat: BG0000, BG10, BG13, BG 18

MFT April Release Countdown Day 5!

Hello everyone!  It's time for the newest MFT Countdown Kickoff!  As always, you are going to love this month's new products and I'm super excited to share them with you!

My card today features the new Toad-ally Awesome Set which features a bunch of cute toads with some fun sentiments.  To start my card, I first created my background scene.  For the sky, I blended some Fresh Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink onto smooth white card stock using the Cloud Stencil.  I then blended another piece of white card stock with some Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks for the water.  I used the Ocean Waves Die-namics to diecut a water-like border.

Next, I blended some Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Inks for the grass and diecut these panels with the Grassy Edges Die-namics.  I adhered my grass and my water onto the panel that I had blended my clouds and then attached a white frame around it with some 3D foam tape.  I used the Pierced Rectangle Frames Die-namics for my frame but saw that these have been discontinued, so I added a link below for the Stitched Rectangle Frame Die-namics which are very similar.

For my toad, I stamped him onto smooth white card stock with black ink and colored him with Copics (YG01, YG23, YG95, YG99 and blush: RV10).  I used the coordinating dies to cut him out and adhered him with some 3d foam squares for some added dimension.  I then heat embossed my sentiment onto the water with Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder and then adhered this whole panel to an A2 sized card base of Limelight Prestige Card Stock.

All new products will be available on Tuesday, April 3rd at 9:00 PM EST.  New product links at the bottom of this post will not be active until that time.

You Spin My Spurs - MFT Sketch Challenge 378

Hello friends!  It's time for another MFT Weekly Wednesday Sketch Challenge!

For my take on today's sketch, I used the Best In The West Stamp Set.  I adore this set!  For my background, I masked off a section for the sky and blended a few distress inks (Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot) onto some Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock.  I then spritzed this with some Perfect Pearls mixed with some water and added some stars with a white gel pen.  I then readjusted the mask to blend some Pumice Stone Distress Ink for the ground.

I stamped my images with black ink onto smooth white card stock and colored them with Copics (all colors will be listed at the very bottom of this post).  I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

For the stitched frame portion of my card, I used both the Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics and the Inside & Out Stitched Square STAX on a piece of white card stock.  I adhered this piece to my A2 sized base with some foam tape.  I also used foam adhesive squares to attach my images.  Lastly, I diecut a piece of black card stock with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics and heat embossed my sentiment with Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.

Splendid Swans - MFT Color Challenge 90

Hello friends!  It's time for a new Color Challenge from My Favorite Things!  It's always so much fun to play around with each color scheme.

MFT Color Challenge 90

This week's color challenge features Cement Grey, Peach Bellini, Coral Crush and Blue Breeze.  You don't need to use these exact colors for the challenge, but something similar or something they inspire you to use.   Head on over to the MFT Challenge Blog for more details on how to join in on the fun.

For my card today, I used the gorgeous Splendid Swans stamp set.  I first stamped my images onto smooth white card stock and colored with Copics (all colors listed at the very bottom of this post).  I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.  For the base of my card, I created a top-folding A2 sized card from white card stock.  I then die cut a piece of Blue Breeze Card Stock from both the large stitched scallop rectangle die from Blueprints 27 Die-namics and also the Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Die-namics.

I then used a piece of water color paper for the sunset background and blended a few Kuretake Gansai water colors (Dark Pink, Cornflower Blue, Lemon Yellow and White) to create my sky.  I stamped my sentiment in black ink and attached my swans with a few 3D Foam Square Adhesives.  I also used some foam mounting tape to adhere my entire panel onto my white A2 card base to add a little more dimension.  Lastly, I added a few Iridescent Bubbles for some added interest.  (I absolutely LOVE these little bubbles.  The pictures don't do them justice).

That's all for today!  Come play along with us for a chance to win an MFT Gift Voucher!  I can't wait to see what you create!

Galaxy Friend - MFT Sketch Challenge 377

Hello and happy Wednesday!  It's time for another Weekly Wednesday Sketch Challenge from My Favorite Things!  The sketch challenges are a fun way to push yourself to create something new in a layout that you may not have initially come up with on your own.

For this week's sketch, I created a fun galaxy-themed card with one of my favorite astronauts from the BB Space Explorer Stamp Set.  For the background, I blended some distress inks (Broken China, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Chipped Sapphire) over top of the Abstract Stencil.  I then spritzed this panel with a little bit of water and splattered some opaque white paint.

I followed this sketch for my card's layout.  Once I had my background panel finished, I then diecut it and cut the word "Friend" right out of the background.  I then cut this word "Friend" again from black card stock and laid the pieces back inside my background panel so that everything was flush.

I then heat embossed my sentiment with Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  For my astronaut, I stamped him with black ink onto some Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110 lb card stock.  I then colored him with Copics and used the coordinating dies to cut him out.  I adhered him to my card with some white foam square adhesives to add some dimension.

MFT - March Card Kit Countdown Day 2

Hello!  I'm back with another card today featuring the new Bundle of Balloons Card Kit.  Today, I made a fun little "Welcome Baby" Box Card.

I love how versatile these balloons are!  To start this card, I first created a horizontal box card from a sheet of pink card stock, a scoring board, scissors and some adhesive.  Measurements for this type of box card can be found HERE on one of my previous blog posts.   I used both Smooth White Card Stock and some patterned paper from the Homespun Gingham Paper Pad to decorate my panels.

For my elephants, I stamped my images from the BB Adorable Elephants stamp set onto Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock with black ink.  I colored these images with Copics (0, C00, C0, C2, C4 and C7 for shading) and used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

To add some detail to the edges of my box, I used the straight die from the Stitched Basic Edge Die-namics on the end of each panel.  I also diecut some puffy white clouds for the inside of my box using the Stitched Cloud Edges Die-namics.

For the front panel of my box, I added a little dress created from the Bundle of Baby Clothes Die-namics and the Tiny Hearts Bright Paper Pack.  For my sentiment, I used the Essentials Sentiment Stamp Set and stamped my greeting with black ink before I adhered the piece to the front of my card.

Lastly, I added some sweet little pink balloons using the Bundle of Balloons Card Kit and some pink card stock.  I love how the balloons can stick upright when using the string dies that come with this set.

MFT - March Card Kit Countdown Day 1

Hello everyone!  Today, we are sharing some crafty inspiration using this months' fun new Card Kit called Bundle of Balloons.  This kit is absolutely amazing!

It's always fun to use balloons on cards for so many different occasions.  Today, I created a fun birthday card.  I first diecut some balloons (to create the word HAPPY) from Neenah Solar White 110 lb Card Stock and colored them with Copic Sketch Markers.

I then diecut some more balloons and used only the inside letters to spell the word BIRTHDAY.  For the base of my card, I cut some smooth white card stock and rounded the corners using a corner punch.  I then used some 3d foam tape to adhere a stitched scalloped rectangle diecut from some Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb cardstock using the large scalloped rectangle die from the Blueprints 27 Die-namics.

Before I put the card together, I stamped some balloon strings onto my scalloped piece of paper using the Party Animals Stamp Set (or you could just draw them).  I then added my balloons with some 3d foam squares for some added dimension.  I also adhered a cute little Zebra (also colored with Copics) from the Jungle Vibes Stamp Set.  Lastly, I added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

MFT - The Birthday Project Challenge

Hello crafty friends!  I'm here today to share with you one of the newer challenges hosted by My Favorite Things.  It's called the Birthday Project Challenge and it will be posted on the third Thursday of every month.  The goal is to come up with fun and inventive ways to create different types of birthday cards/projects.

This month, we are focusing on gift cards.  Gift cards are one of the most common gift that is given.  Usually, we just stick them in a card and we're done.  But sometimes it's fun to think outside of the box and find different but eye-catching and easy ways to present them.

I created a simple but fun card using the Gift Card Window & Frame Die-namics.  I first blended a soft pink background onto some Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock using Tattered Rose and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Inks.  I also added some splatters of Picked Raspberry Distress Ink and some opaque white paint.  I then diecut that piece with both the Stitched Scalloped Rectangle Die that comes in the Blueprints 27 Die-namics and the window die from the Gift Card Window & Frame Die-namics.

I used one of the Clear Gift Card Pouches in which to place my gift card.  I then added a piece of pink polka-dotted pattern paper from the Dots & Stripes Sorbet Paper Pack to the front of my horizontal A2 card base and then attached my gift card piece on top of this with some 3D foam tape.

For the cute little fairies, I used the Fairy Happy Stamp Set.  I stamped my images with black ink onto smooth white paper and colored them with my Copics (all colors used will be listed at the very bottom of this post below the products used tabs).  I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and attached them to my card with some foam square adhesives.

Lastly, I added a few beautiful Iridescent Bubbles for some added interest.  Super easy and fun!

Make sure to visit this month's Birthday Project Post over at the MFT Card Challenge Blog for more details on how to enter and some fun crafty inspiration by the other DT Members.

Wishing you all a lovely day!  I love to hear from you so feel free to leave any comments or questions!

Happy Stamping!
